Bak Middle School of the Arts Visual Arts Audition Prep
Bak Middle School of the Arts has one of the most structured, rubric-based visual arts auditions of any arts middle school in Florida. The bar is high — the judges score every portfolio piece and every timed drawing against explicit criteria — and students are expected to bring mature, original, observational work. Traced drawings and cartoon-style work are disqualifying. The audition itself is a full-day affair, and the process can be intimidating for kids who’ve never experienced a formal arts review. Preparation isn’t optional. Students who arrive knowing exactly what the rubric rewards — and who’ve practiced timed drawing under pressure — have a measurably better shot.
Bak is a Palm Beach County magnet school. Applicants must be Palm Beach County residents.

How Et Tú Coaching Prepares Your Student
Bak is another school I’ve worked with extensively. The rubric is specific, and we train for it directly. That means building a portfolio that scores well on composition, technique, and creativity — not just work that looks impressive to a parent. We also run timed drawing practice sessions in advance so that the on-site drawing exercise isn’t a surprise. I’ve helped students get into Bak with their first choice, and I can prepare your student to do the same.
Et Tú Coaching works remotely, which means no matter where you are in the country, we can build your student’s portfolio, practice timed drawing, and prepare them for every element of the audition. Sessions are flexible, personalized, and scheduled around your family’s calendar.
