Bak Middle School of the Arts Visual Arts Audition Prep
Bak Middle School of the Arts has one of the most structured, rubric-based visual arts auditions of any arts middle school in Florida. The bar is high — the judges score every portfolio piece and every timed drawing against explicit criteria — and students are expected to bring mature, original, observational work. Traced drawings and cartoon-style work are disqualifying. The audition itself is a full-day affair, and the process can be intimidating for kids who’ve never experienced a formal arts review. Preparation isn’t optional. Students who arrive knowing exactly what the rubric rewards — and who’ve practiced timed drawing under pressure — have a measurably better shot.
Bak is a Palm Beach County magnet school. Applicants must be Palm Beach County residents.

How Et Tú Coaching Prepares Your Student
Bak is another school I’ve worked with extensively—and experienced as a student, myself! The rubric is specific, so while we prepare for the audition components extensively, we also use a variety of techniques so as to have more ways to satisfy the requirements. We run timed exercises to develop time management and confidence, and set baselines prior to audition day. I’ve helped hundreds of students get into with their first choice program such as Bak, and I can prepare your student to do the same.
